Hello, sorry to reopen this very old thread. I am experiencing the same issues and I tried Windows Update through "add a printer" under the device manager.

Sorry, I managed to fix it!

Printer resetting date and time and other uninitiated actions

My printer (Officejet Pro 6835) comes on at random and wants to reset/confirm the date and time settings.  Sometimes comes on similarly and wants to resume a scan or fax job that never was initiated.  I want to stop this  behavior.

Many of the codes are there for HP's diagnostic benefit, such as #13 - ID, this is a code that tells us when the printer was first installed. #14 - FW, is the printers current firmware version. Basically, these codes tell us about your printer, ink system, and ink carriages.

Is there something particular you are looking for?

Installed new power supply with 6/1/2015 firmware and all is quite.

FYI - Did not receive instructions as to where to send the old power supply as was requested by HP Support.

Hello Ajoy K. Mukhrerjee,

If you want to print a black and white document using black ink only, click the Advanced button. From the Print in Grayscale drop-down menu, select Black Ink Only, then click the OK button.

Hi,

From the record

5510 : first review on 6Jul2012
4502 : first available 2Dec2013

the Envy 4502 is "newer" - they are two different classes.

I can fully understand what you are saying about the firmware update.  You need to download the latest firmware and then copy the bdl file to a usb thumb drive in the root directory of the drive.  Do not have any other firmware files in the root directory and then follow the instructions below and see if this helps.  Do not have any network cable or usb cable connected to the printer when you turn it on:

A firmware update might be necessary to help resolve an issue for a single printer. When the printer is in an error state, the Preboot menu can be used to update the firmware directly from the control panel using a portable USB flash drive.

Do NOT use these steps to update the firmware for a printer that is in a ready state unless otherwise recommended for the firmware version of the printer. If a "Disk Full" message displays when using this method, contact the HP support center in your country/region to help troubleshoot the issue.
  1. Copy the .bdl file (downloaded previously) to a USB flash drive.

USB flash drives with a CD formatted partition might not be recognized by the printer. You might need to try a different USB flash drive.
  2. On the control panel, open the Preboot menu.

    • Turn the printer Off and then On, and when the HP logo displays on the control panel and all three Ready, Data, and Attention LEDs illuminate solid, press .

      OR

    • Turn the printer Off and then On, and when 1/8 displays below the HP logo on the product control panel, touch the logo.

  3. Scroll to and select Administrator.

To scroll on the control panel, use the touch screen scrollbar or the up/down arrow buttons. If indicated on the touchscreen, you will need to use the 3 (up) and 9 (down) keys on the control panel to scroll.
  4. Scroll to and select Download.

  5. Insert the USB flash drive with the .bdl file on it into the USB port on the front of the product (remove the seal if necessary).

If the message No USB Thumbdrive Files Found displays on the control panel, make sure the .bdl file is saved to the main directory and is not inside a folder. If the message persists, try using a different USB flash drive.
  6. Scroll to and select USB Thumbdrive.

  7. Select the .bdl file, select OK or the 6 key, and then wait for the update process to complete.

If there is more than one .bdl file on the storage device, make sure to scroll to and select the correct file for the printer and firmware version.
  8. When Complete displays on the control panel, select the back arrow until Continue displays, select Continue, and then wait for the printer to automatically reboot.

  9. After the printer or MFP is back online, print a Configuration Page and verify that the new firmware version is installed.

Re: Tray 2 will not go in.

I am not an expert on this one but have seen the same thing on the smaller version of this printer the 500.  On that model it seemed like there was something in the middle or on the right side that would leave the tray out about 1/2 inch.  I could also press the tray in and with pressure it would be able to lift the paper and print, but as soon as you let go it would pop out that 1/2 inch.  If that is the same for you, check in the rear and there is a white plastic piece that has a small metal rod attached to it.  It is very difficult to remove the rod without breaking the small while piece that holds the rod in place.  On my I did break the piece but low and behold with the metal piece missing the tray went in all the way.  It appears that metal rod goes into an opening in the rear and sort of locks the tray in so you have to apply pressure to open it.  With the rod missing you do not have to apply pressure but the tray does stay in place as long as the printer is on a level stand.  If you tilt the printer a little to the front the tray will open so you have to keep it level which most people do.  The printer I worked on has worked just fine for the last couple of months.  Hope some of this may help you.

davidzuts Teacher thanks for your answer and I already found this article at a forum and unfortunately it didn't help me. the last insertion (cljCP5525fw_2305081_000127.bdl) was downloaded but as I wrote after its installation on the display of the printer of mistakes earlier isn't present, but there is an infinite initialization. at installation of an old insertion (cljCP5525fw_2131305_192066.bdl) there is a mistake 49.38.04 and the printer hangs on it.

Hi,

It is possible to setup digitl send functionality, scanning for your device is not available via an HP interface.

1. Firt you may follow these steps to share a network folder:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5329035&docId=emr_na-c04431534&docLocale=en_US

2. Once the folder has been shared follow these steps to set up such a shared folder for the printer from its EWS interface:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5329035&docId=emr_na-c04018055&docLocale=en_US

Another option it to set up scanning to an email by using an SMTP mail account as following:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5329035&docId=emr_na-c04017973&docLocale=en_US

Shlomi
